Nomura Group will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in December 2025. In August we published the Nomura Report 2025, our integrated report, which outlines the Group’s initiatives, the principles behind them, and our vision for the next 100 years.
This year’s theme is Nomura Group’s Value Creation. The report reflects on our 100-year history alongside the development of Japan’s financial capital markets. It highlights our Group Purpose announced in 2024, our management strategy to enhance corporate value, our core business activities and our value creation strategy for the next 100 years.
Below we introduce some key points from the report and share our perspectives.
We want this report to reach a broad audience—not only clients and investors, but also students and those interested in working at Nomura. With the aim of turning more people into Nomura supporters, we focused on clearly presenting Nomura’s initiatives and our growth story toward 2030.
On page 20, we introduce Nomura Group’s value creation process. The diagram shows how we draw on our business strengths to create and circulate value toward our Purpose of creating a better world.
To make this clear to readers, we started by asking three questions: “What does Nomura do?”, “What value does that produce?”, and “What factors positively or negatively affect this process?”
In previous reports, we touched on the value creation process, describing what we do as creating a circulation of risk capital. But Nomura does far more than circulate risk capital and connect financial flows. We provide research, offer services that support inheritance and asset succession, deliver M&A advisory, and help connect regional firms without successors to potential successors, among other activities. The diagram brings all of these activities together under one simple, unifying keyword: connection.

Nomura Group aims to create a better world by “connecting” capital, regions, companies and technologies, generations, information, and diverse people and their aspirations. We chose “connection” to help employees see how their work links to society. The 2025 Nomura Report uses this to show how our daily work creates value and how that value feeds a continuous circulation of sustainable growth for both the company and society.
For this year’s report, we examined how “the value Nomura creates” connects to our idea of a better world. We unpacked Nomura’s Purpose announced in 2024—We aspire to create a better world by harnessing the power of financial markets—and analyzed how our strategic direction and business activities align with it. How do the value we generate through our businesses help create a better world? Although perceptions of a better world vary, this report sets out the specific vision Nomura aims to realize through its activities.

At Nomura, we have continually reinvented ourselves to stay ahead of the times, while honoring our traditions. Over the next ten years, we will move beyond conventional ideas about who we are and what we do, and take bold steps into the wider world. We see this decade as a crucial period to break existing frameworks and make major advances. We will keep transforming at pace to create new value that exceeds expectations.
