About Hideki Matsuyama
Born in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Hideki Matsuyama was the first Japanese to win Low Amateur at the Masters during his school days. He turned pro in 2013, and he was the first player to lead the earnings ranking in his rookie year. The following year, he joined the PGA Tour in the United States and had his first win at “The Memorial Tournament.” In 2021, he became the first Asian player to win The Masters.
In August 2024, he became the first Japanese man to win a bronze medal for golf at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The same month, he won his 10th victory at the PGA Tour at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He continues to renew his record for the most wins of any Asian player.
